Microsoft announced Visual Studio 2022. The company’s blog lists all the key features of the new version. And judging by them, we are in for a huge update.
What’s new?
Moving to x64. As the application becomes 64-bit, the main process is no longer limited to 4 GB of RAM. This should speed up the development environment on powerful computers.
Changed interface. Many elements will be simplified, which should “reduce the cognitive load” for the user. Visual Studio 2022 will change icons, fonts and improve skins.
Simplified personalization. It will now be much easier for developers to customize the Microsoft IDE for themselves.
Ability to create many types of applications. The new version of Visual Studio will support the creation of cloud-based Azure applications and projects in .NET 6 (including .NET Multi-platform App), C ++ 20 applications with new language capabilities, and improved support for Linux applications.
IDE version for macOS. Visual Studio for Apple’s system can now provide better performance and stability. Also, the update for macOS will receive full support for OS accessibility and provide new Git features.
When to expect?
In the summer of 2021, the first preliminary version of Visual Studio 2022 will be released. The final release was promised closer to the end of the year.
