Xbox Live Gold won’t be needed for shareware games soon

Yesterday, January 22nd, in conjunction with the February Xbox Live Gold selection announcement, Microsoft announced that it is increasing the cost of subscriptions in some countries. The price was supposed to rise by $ 1 per month and by $ 5 in 3 months.

However, players and netizens greeted the news extremely negatively, so Microsoft cancelled the price hike for Xbox Live Gold on the same day.

The company will also change how subscriptions work in the coming months so that it is no longer required to play shareware games. Subscriptions are no longer required on Sony and Nintendo consoles.
