Thousands of iPhone owners are at risk due to a bug in the app

This is a Call Recorder application for recording calls. This is a paid application from the top 20 most popular in the AppStore. But even the price and popularity did not prove to be a guarantee of confidentiality.

Due to a programming error, the personal call records of hundreds of thousands of users were at risk of being leaked. It turns out that attackers could access the recordings of users’ calls if they only knew their phone number.

The vulnerability was discovered by computer security expert and founder of PingSafe, Anand Prakash. He changed the newly registered number to the number of a real user and got access to his calls.

But you don’t have to worry anymore. The developers of the application fixed the error a week after identifying the vulnerability. Therefore, now users are strongly recommended to update the program to version 2.26 or higher.

Call Recorder costs $ 6.99 per week or $ 14.99 per month (if paid immediately for a year). Using the application, you can record incoming and outgoing calls, change voices, upload saved recordings to Slack, Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive, translate audio to text in more than 50 languages.
