Snap CEO: we’re happy to pay Apple a 30% commission

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel said his company behind the popular Snapchat messenger is happy to pay Apple a 30% commission on in-app transactions. He also noted that the company’s messenger would not have become what it is now without Apple.

“ We really feel like Snapchat wouldn’t exist without the iPhone and the amazing platform that Apple has built. In that sense, I’m not sure we have a choice about paying the 30% commission, and of course, we’re happy to do so in exchange for all the great technology they provide us in terms of software as well as in terms of their hardware advances, “- cites the source of the word of the head of Snap.

Spiegel noted that Apple is an excellent partner for Snap and endorsed Apple’s decision to change the privacy policy of apps in the App Store, according to which developers can no longer collect and process user data without explicit consent.

Spiegel’s statement contrasts sharply with those of business tycoon Barry Diller, who criticized Apple’s policy of 30% fees for transactions carried out by users in applications for the iOS platform. The announcement comes amid ongoing litigation between Apple and Epic Games, the developer of the popular game Fortnite, which was removed from the App Store after a third-party payment processor was integrated into it.
