One of the largest Apple partners is preparing to launch iPhone production in India

Earlier it was reported about the company’s plans to spend about $ 150 million to deploy production facilities for assembling iPhone smartphones in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. While Pegatron did not disclose what the facility will be used for, state government sources said it was leased to carry out activities related to the Apple collaboration.

In the same state, in Sriperumbudur, there is a plant of another Apple contract partner – Foxconn. It currently produces iPhone smartphones, including the iPhone 11 model.

Until now, the production of iPhones in India has been focused on cheaper or older models. In August 2020, it became known about Apple’s plans to establish iPhone 12 production in India by 2021.

Tamil Nadu, India’s popular electronics hub, is also home to several major technology companies, including Samsung, Motorola and Nokia, Financial Express reports.
