Next-gen MacBook Pro 16 turns into a true gaming laptop with AMD Radeon RX 6700 graphics.

Arm MacBook Pro 16 will have to wait.

Some rumors attributed the MacBook Pro 16 to an early transition to a single-chip platform of its production. Others said that this is still a long way off. We should expect a regular but even improved MacBook Pro 16 based on x86 processors shortly. According to the source, the Arm-based MacBook Pro 16 isn’t coming soon.

The news is that the new MacBook Pro 16 is now assigned AMD Radeon RX 6700 graphics cards, and they cannot be used in an Arm architecture system in any way. Therefore, in at least one more generation, this model will be equipped with an Intel CPU. Still, it will be significantly better in terms of graphics capabilities than the current one because the Radeon RX 6700 and RX 6700 XT are built on GPU Navi 22. New AMD GPUs from the Navi family have already proven themselves very well in graphics cards for desktop computers. The same can be expected for laptops: the MacBook Pro 16 with such GPUs can be called a full-fledged gaming laptop.

According to rumors, the new MacBook Pro 16 was supposed to be released in late November-early December, but this is unlikely to come true: the announcement of the mobile Radeon RX 6700 and RX 6700 XT is expected only in January. In that case, the updated MacBook Pro 16 could debut in February. Accordingly, the Arm-based MacBook Pro 16 will not appear until the end of 2021.
