Microsoft Office on iPad is like on a computer. Added mouse and trackpad support

Updating Word, PowerPoint, and Excel apps for iPadOS

Microsoft has released an update for its Word, PowerPoint and Excel office apps for the iPadOS mobile platform, which is used on Apple tablets or, more simply, the iPad.

This update is quite important as it makes working with Microsoft Office applications on iPad more convenient, bringing it closer to the “computer” use case. The applications now support work with trackpads and computer mice.

Corresponding mouse support was introduced in iPadOS 13.4 and further functionality enhancements were implemented in iPadOS 14. Microsoft has updated its applications with the platform’s full trackpad and mouse support. The innovation will allow you to more accurately select objects and make changes in documents, compared to traditional touch input for tablets.

Other changes bring the new Fluent design to apps, replacing Modern in Microsoft products. For example, as the developers promise, the new start screens will make it faster and easier to start working on projects. App updates are rolling out in stages and will be available to all users within a few weeks.
