Apple is working on two new MacBook Pro models that will receive significant design changes. This was stated by authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in his report to investors.
According to Kuo, Apple is developing two MacBook Pro models with 14 and 16 inches screen sizes. New items will receive a design with flat edges without bends, reminiscent of the iPhone 12. This will be the most significant change in the appearance of laptops in the last five years.
It is reported that the Cupertinians will ditch the touchpad in favor of physical function keys. Kuo said the design of the MagSafe charging connector would make a comeback, although it’s not clear what that means since Apple previously switched to USB-C. The updated MacBook Pro models will receive additional ports, and users will not have to use different hubs. They will be equipped with Apple chips, and there are no options for Intel.
The MacBook Pro models will use the same heatpipe design found in the current 16-inch MacBook Pro, which Kuo says is much better than the current 13-inch Pro and Air. The analyst expects the new models to be released in the third quarter of 2021. He also estimated that shipments would grow significantly 25-30 percent year to 20 million units thanks to the refreshed design and strong demand for replacements.
Kuo also revealed that high-end iPhones due in 2021 are likely to have a vapor chamber cooling system under active testing. It is needed due to the higher processing power and speed of 5G connections. There are already smartphones on the market with similar technology from Samsung, Razer, and LG.
