The most expensive component of a smartphone is an OLED screen.

According to a source that cites a Nikkei report, the iPhone 12 is priced at $373. In this case, the device’s most expensive component is the OLED screen – it is priced at $70.

The cost of a single-chip Apple A14 Bionic platform is $40, SK Hynix RAM – $12.8, Samsung flash memory – $19.2, CMOS sensors manufactured by Sony – $8. In general, most of the components are purchased from South Korean companies.

It should be noted that barely half of the device’s retail price accounts for the cost of components development, advertising, marketing, logistics, and many other aspects. In the US, the cost of the iPhone 12 is currently starting at $800. Interestingly, with a more considerable difference in retail price (from $1000 in the US), the iPhone 12 Pro cost is only $ 33 higher.
