For example, do not carry a smartphone in your breast pocket.

Earlier this year, Apple advised keeping iPhone 12 smartphones away from pacemakers, as magnets used in MagSafe technology can affect the operation of medical devices.

Now, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has delivered its verdict. FDA). The document, published by the department, says that the risks for patients with implanted medical devices are negligible.

In this case, we are not talking specifically about the iPhone 12 but generally about modern consumer devices with magnets.

We believe that the risk to patients is small, and the agency is currently aware of any side effects associated with this problem. However, it is expected that the number of consumer electronics with solid magnets will grow over time. Therefore, we encourage people with implanted medical devices to talk to their doctor to understand this potential risk and the right methods of safe use.

The FDA also advised to keep such gadgets at least 15 cm away from implanted medical devices and not to carry smartphones or similar solutions in the pockets above pacemakers.
