Suspected single-chip GPU!
The iPhone 12 and iPad Air 4 seem to have their first major issue. The source concerns performance in games and is tied to the GPU of the 5nm Apple A14 SoC platform.
the A14 is having some GPU(?) problems 🤨🤔
in quite a few games, if not in all of them
at least the more demanding ones where you can tell
and is running VERY hot too
why? we dont know yet, optimization maybe?
but it shouldnt be THIS bad
maybe lower lower perf + optimization? pic.twitter.com/4dxIDU0xN4

The list of games is not given, but the source speaks of “the most demanding,” “if not all.” The problem is expressed in the rendering of textures and low frame rates, but there is no specificity. Still, what is inevitable – games are accompanied by significant heating of the mobile device. The reason is not clear, but it probably depends on software optimization since the platform is new. And if so, then Apple will soon fix everything with an appropriate firmware update.
