Intel strengthens contract staff with Samsung employees

New Intel CEO Patrick Gelsinger has transformed the corporation into a serious contract manufacturer of semiconductor components. To achieve this goal, the company itself is currently undergoing restructuring, and specialists with experience in Samsung and Micron are called to lead this direction.

Resource CRN managed to gain access to the internal newsletter at Intel, which describes the large-scale transformation of the corporation’s organizational structure. Without going into details, the divisions responsible for the supply of components and their production were subjected to the merger, although previously, they acted somewhat independently. This transformation only underlines how important Intel considers the fight against the deficit of components that have paralyzed certain sectors of the economy.

It is only natural that the Intel Foundry Services business has been strengthened at the organizational level as part of the new IDM 2.0 strategy. IFS will be led by Randhir Thakur, who was previously responsible for supply chain coordination. He will take over as President of Intel Foundry Services, and Keyvan Esfarjani, who leads Intel’s operations, will take over the operational leadership.

Another new structure within Intel will be called the Corporate Planning Group. It will deal with the planning of production and supply and raw materials and necessary components. Intel veteran Stuart Pann will lead this division with 33 years of experience, who left his home company in 2014, having worked at Bossa Nova and as the chief procurement manager of HP Inc.

Directly division of Intel Foundry Services got two immigrants from Samsung Electronics. At the very least, Hong Hao, who previously headed Samsung’s North American contract manufacturing business, has taken over as corporate vice president of business development worldwide. The tasks of Mr. Hao at the new location will include expanding the range of Intel customers in the direction of contract manufacturing of components. Recall that soon, the company is preparing to spend $ 20 billion on the construction of two new enterprises in Arizona and announce the choice of a site for a contract enterprise in Europe.

Bob Brennan, who also has 22 years of experience at Intel, is returning to Micron and Samsung. At the latter, he was senior vice president of new memory designs. In his new position at Intel, he will focus on customer relations for Foundry Services.
