In 2022, the iPhone may receive a periscope camera module with 10x magnification, it will be produced by LG from Samsung components

According to people familiar with the matter, Apple will purchase components from Samsung to improve the cameras of upcoming iPhones. It is noted that the new cameras will be able to provide up to 10x magnification without compromising image quality. As a reminder, current iPhones offer only 2.5x optical zoom.

According to The Elec, Samsung Electro-Mechanics will be supplying actuators and lenses for LG. In turn, LG will use these components to produce a foldable or periscope camera for Apple. The move should help Apple maintain its business relationship with LG and avoid any future patent-related legal battles.

But the periscope camera will not appear in the next iPhone model, but in one generation – in the devices of the 2022 lineup. As for the upcoming smartphones, the 2021 iPhone 13 Pro Max could be one of the first mobile devices from Apple to support 8K video recording. In addition, Apple may start using an anamorphic lens for improved stability when recording any material.
