Siri, Apple’s intelligent assistant, is designed to simplify and speed up your daily tasks on your Mac. With the power of Apple Intelligence, Siri becomes more natural, contextually relevant, and personalized to your needs. Siri’s extensive product knowledge can provide you with answers about your Mac and other Apple products, making it an indispensable tool for enhancing your productivity.

Note: Apple Intelligence is available in macOS 15.1 on Mac models with M1 or later, with Siri and device language set to US English. For setup instructions, visit Get started with Apple Intelligence.

Typing to Siri

When speaking out loud isn’t convenient, you can type your requests to Siri. This is particularly useful in quiet settings like meetings or libraries.

How to Type to Siri:

  1. Activate Siri on your Mac as shown above.
  2. Click the Siri field and type your request.

Quick Tip: Press the Command key twice to quickly open the Siri request field.

Even if Apple Intelligence is turned off or unavailable in your language or region, you can still type to Siri by adjusting your accessibility settings.

Asking Siri About Apple Products

Siri’s vast product knowledge allows you to ask specific questions about your Apple devices. This feature helps you get the most out of your Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, HomePod, AirPods, and Apple TV. For example, I asked Siri to find my phone. Here is the result I got:

Examples of Questions You Can Ask Siri:

  • “How do I download an app on Mac?”
  • “Where do I name a group text on Mac?”
  • “How do I import photos on Mac?”
  • “How do I make the text on my Mac bigger?”
  • “Tell me how to connect my AirPods to my iPhone.”
  • “How do I play sound from my TV through HomePod?”
  • “How do I make my own Memoji?”
  • “What is iCloud?”

Maintaining Context in Conversations with Siri

One of the standout features of Apple Intelligence is Siri’s ability to maintain context across multiple requests. This means you can build on your previous queries without having to repeat the context.

Example of Contextual Requests:

  1. Ask Siri, “When is India Vs Australia Match?”
  1. Finally, say, “Add that to my calendar.”

How to Make Contextual Requests:

  1. Activate Siri and make your initial request.
  2. Immediately follow up with additional requests that build on the previous conversation.

Conclusion

Apple Intelligence combined with Siri on your Mac transforms how you interact with your device. Whether you’re using voice commands or typing, Siri’s capabilities can help you manage your tasks more efficiently and get quick answers to your questions. By leveraging Siri’s contextual understanding and extensive product knowledge, you can streamline your workflow and enhance your overall productivity.
