Apple’s new OS turns old MacBook Pros into bricks

Laptop owners of 2013 and 2014 complain massively

The company Apple released a few days ago a new operating system for computers – macOS Big Sur. However, not all users upgraded smoothly, and for some, installing macOS Big Sur caused the laptop to become unusable.

The owners of 13-inch MacBook Pros of late 2013 and mid-2014 began to complain massively on the network – during the installation of macOS Big Sur, the laptop simply turns into a “brick”. There are similar complaints on various forums, social news site Reddit and the official Apple support community.

Basically, they say that while installing macOS Big Sur, the laptop “got stuck” showing a black screen. Reset key combinations are unavailable after starting the update, including resetting NVRAM or PRAM, starting in safe mode, and Internet recovery. As a result, there is no way for users to get around the black screen and bring the laptop back to life.

Until Apple releases a fix for this bug, it’s best to postpone installing macOS Big Sur on MacBook Pros in late 2013 and mid 2014.
