If you are a MacBook Pro user and your computer refuses to charge above 1%, you can now replace your laptop battery for free. Apple today announced a program to replace batteries in MacBook Pros released in 2016 and 2017.
We have previously reported this error, and, as it turns out, it is of a hardware-software nature. To fix it, Apple has released additional updates to macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 and even macOS Catalina 10.15.7 that should fix this problem. Nevertheless, if you connect the laptop to the power supply, the operating system still displays a message to visit the service centre. You can safely go to any authorized service and fix the MacBook Pro there for free. If such problems arise, it is recommended that you first call the Apple support hotline and report the error. The nearest addresses of authorized service centres will also be prompted there.

- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Dual Thunderbolt 3)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Dual Thunderbolt 3)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports);
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)
- MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
- MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017).
The company claims that only a small number of users have problems. To see more detailed information about the battery status, you need to click on the battery icon in the upper right corner of the screen or go to the “Battery” section in the system settings.
