Apple will not force users to upgrade to iOS 15 while maintaining support for iOS 14

Apple plans to continue rolling out updates for iOS 14 and iPad OS 14 even after the iOS 15  and iPad OS 15, thus allowing users to continue to fully use the iPhone and iPad with older versions of operating systems. Information about this appeared on the support pages for the latest software.

The document published by Apple states: “ iOS now offers a choice between two versions of software updates in the Settings app. You can upgrade to the latest iOS 15 as soon as it is released for the latest features and the most comprehensive set of security updates. You can also continue to work on iOS 14 and continue to receive important security updates until you are ready to upgrade to the next version of the operating system. “

In past versions of iOS, Apple tried to force users to install the latest updates as soon as possible by stopping signing previous builds to make rollback impossible. Apparently, the company has decided to change its policy, and this is good news.

Not having to update devices to the latest version of iOS will certainly make life easier for users of devices provided by an employer or school. And in general, not everyone strives to update as soon as possible.
