Apple “weighs” iPhone 13

Autonomy will be Apple’s priority in developing the next generation of smartphones – and users need to be prepared for the consequences. In particular, smartphones will become heavier.

MacRumors writes about this concerning the Taiwanese analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, known for the accuracy of his “apple” forecasts. It mainly collects information about the companies’ work that supply Apple components and draws conclusions based on the information obtained in such different ways.

In his latest research, Koh claims that all iPhone models that the company plans to launch in the second half of 2021 are equipped with larger batteries. This will increase the weight of the devices, but not the size – Apple engineers could find new ways to “squeeze” other components to increase the size of the battery.

In particular, to increase the battery, the SIM card tray was integrated with the motherboard, and the thickness of the front photo module was reduced. In the iPhone 12, compared to the iPhone 11, the battery capacity, on the contrary, has decreased by 200 – 300 mAh. Despite the power-saving features of the processor, according to reviewers, some of the new products were inferior in autonomy to their predecessors.

An increase in battery can lead to an increase in the average battery life of new smartphones. Or it may not – everything will depend on the power consumption of the new processor and other components that Apple uses in the new smartphone.
