Apple wants to redesign the iMac for the first time since 2012

This year, Apple wants to redesign its iMac desktop computers for the first time since 2012. This became known to Bloomberg from an anonymous source.

According to him, Apple plans to release in late 2021 two versions of the iMac, codenamed J456 and J457, replacing the existing 21.5-inch and 27-inch models. The new models are planning to reduce the thick black bezels around the screen and bring their design closer to the Apple Pro Display XDR. Plus, the new iMacs will have a flat back instead of the curved back on current models.

The new products will be released as part of a radical overhaul of Apple’s personal computer lineup. The company is moving from Intel chips to its own Apple Silicon processors. In addition, the source said the company is also working on a pair of new Mac Pro laptops. An Apple spokesman declined to comment for the agency.

Previously, developer Giulio Zompetti posted a photo of the iPhone 12 Pro prototype online. He posted a similar photo of a device to Apple’s new flagship, specifying that he received a prototype version of the new device for use. In terms of design, the device does not visually differ from the commercially available iPhone 12 Pro. However, the specialist said that the model is not intended for the market, as it is a test sample.
