Apple releases iOS 12.5.1 for older iPhones and iPads

Apple has begun distributing iOS 12.5.1, which is already available on older iPhones and iPads that do not support iOS 14. The update fixes a bug in notifications about contacts infected with coronavirus infection.

In December last year, we will remind you that Apple released an update for older devices iOS 12.5 along with iOS 14, intended for more current products of the company. This version’s main innovation was the emergence of a notification system informing about contacts with people who tested positive for coronavirus.

However, it turned out that the update contains a bug due to which the profile language was incorrectly displayed in notifications about contacts with people infected with the coronavirus. The iOS 12.5.1 update has resolved this issue and is now available to all users of compatible devices.

The new function of identifying contacts with infected people is available in a large number of countries. To install iOS 12.5.1, select the “Software update” section in a compatible device’s settings and check its availability. The update applies to iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad Air, and iPod touch 6.

Apparently, it will take some time for iOS 12.5.1 to roll out to all the mentioned Apple device models. This means that the update may not be available to all users at this time.
