Apple plans to release “Music” and “Podcasts” in Microsoft Store

Apple is working on Music and Podcasts apps for Windows that will appear in the Microsoft Store. They are now undergoing closed testing, according to the 9to5Mac website, citing anonymous sources.

While there is no specific information yet, these apps may be only for Xbox consoles, since Apple released the Apple TV app for Microsoft consoles last November. However, Cupertino’s can still release this software on Windows as a replacement for iTunes, which is no longer supported on the Mac but is still available on the Microsoft operating system.

Recall that Apple abandoned iTunes in 2019 with macOS Catalina’s release, providing users with separate apps for music, podcasts, and TV. In November of that year, the company posted job listings for engineers to create “next-generation Windows multimedia applications.” In this regard, we can conclude that the programs “Music” and “Podcasts” have been in development for some time.
