Popular cryptocurrency trading platform Coinbase, which recently went public, today announced that its virtual Visa debit card can now be added to Apple Pay and Google Pay payment services. The company’s customers this week will be able to start paying for purchases with cryptocurrency anywhere where Google and Apple payment services are supported.
The Coinbase Card is completely free for users of the cryptocurrency platform. Once the card is confirmed, users can start spending their digital coins using Google Pay and Apple Pay. As a bonus, Coinbase offers up to 4% cashback on the amount spent on purchases.
It’s worth noting that Coinbase Card does not allow you to spend cryptocurrency directly. Instead, the service automatically converts it to dollars or another official currency and transfers funds to the Coinbase Card for purchases with Apple Pay or Google Pay or cash withdrawals from ATMs. Installed conversion rates are listed on the Coinbase website.
