Apple officially announces over-ear AirPods Max

Starting December 15th Apple will begin shipping their new series of headphones called AirPods Max. During the summer months, several rumors circled the internet on a redesign for the popular ear piece, suggesting a complete redesign over even a new series being launched.

In a press release, Apple states “rich, deep bass, accurate mid-range, and crisp, clean high-frequency extension so every note can be heard.”

With the launch of the new series of headphones, Apple will be competing against other heavyweights like Sony and Bose, who currently dominate the space. The new Apple AirPod Max will feature Apple’s H1 chip that allows for active noise cancellation, audio sharing, hands-free Siri commands, and adaptive EQ.

Upon the AirPod Max release, Apple will sell them in the popular standard Apple colors like Space Gray, Sky Blue, Silver, and also Green and Pink. Apple recommends updating devices before connecting to the AirPod Max. The minimum requirement for Macs is iOS 14.3 or later. iPadOS 14.3 or later, macOS Big Sur 11.1 or later, watchOS 7.2 or later, or tvOS 14.3 or later.
