Apple may discontinue iPhone 12 mini next quarter

A fresh report from William Young of JP Morgan says Apple may end production of the iPhone 12 mini in the next quarter of this year. Perhaps, in this way, the company will try to free up production capacity for the next lineup devices.

Young believes that Apple will focus primarily on the production of larger quantities of the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max and the iPhone 11. The analyst in a note to investors claims the following quantities: 2, 11 and 8 million units, respectively. Young expects that due to low demand, the iPhone 12 mini production could be completely phased out by the second quarter of 2021.

There is no specific information yet that Apple will completely stop selling its smallest smartphone from the 2020 lineup until new devices are released. Perhaps the company will shift marketing activities towards the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max by the end of this period.

We will remind, earlier there was information that the iPhone 12 mini was the most unpopular model. It was reported that this smartphone accounts for only 6 per cent of sales of the entire line. One report also noted that weak demand prompted Apple to switch efforts to other models.
