Apple M1 competitor? Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 spotted on Geekbench

Qualcomm continues to develop its ARM processors for Windows devices, and the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 benchmark appeared in the Geekbench 5 benchmark. The SoC received 8 cores with a frequency of up to 2.7 GHz, and this is all the information available about it for now.

The test was carried out on a full-fledged Windows 10 Pro, and the results were interesting: in single-threaded mode, the novelty scored 982 points, in multi-threaded mode – 4918 points. Compared with other ARM processors, the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 received 40% better single-core performance than Snapdragon 8cx, which 15% behind Snapdragon 888 and 44% behind Apple M1.

With multi-core performance, everything is better: the gap with the Apple M1 is already only 36%. Simultaneously, Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 was only 9% slower than the current top-end ultrabook Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor. As a result, you can see that Qualcomm is very good at improving its ARM processor for Windows, and it can be assumed that its performance will grow by release. Perhaps the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 will be able to compete with the leader in the person of Apple M1.
