iOS and iPadOS 14.4 is already available for download on all smartphones and tablets that support the regular version 14 of systems – these are iPhone 6S and newer, as well as most iPad models over the past 5 years.
There are not many new features in iOS and iPadOS 14.4 – they added recognition of small QR codes, classification of devices in the Bluetooth menu and many other minor changes and bug fixes. A far more significant part of the update is security patches that address three major zero-day issues.
Apple does not specifically share details about the patched vulnerabilities to inform hackers further until most users download the update. One of the security flaws is related to the WebKit browser engine, through which attackers could remotely execute various commands. The company said that there have already been cases of exploitation of this vulnerability in real life.
The company promises to tell you more about the vulnerabilities later. But it is advisable to install iOS and iPadOS 14.4 as soon as possible to keep the devices secure. If your smartphone or tablet has not yet offered to update, you can do it manually. To do this, go to “Settings” → “General” → “Software update”.
